Vera Security Services understands that local government codes require fireguards and fire safety directors to be present in a variety of circumstances. They play a major role in the safety of large buildings and construction sites. We are here to meet those requirements.
New York City law requires that a fireguard must be provided for fire watch duties when a fire alarm, sprinkler or standpipe is out of service in large commercial or residential structures. It is more prevalent today to have fireguards at construction sites where the fire suppression systems have not yet been set up, where open flame is in use. Vera Security Services trained certified fire guards whose duties include monitoring fire systems and completing required reports, reporting fire conditions to mandatory authorities and coordinating orderly evacuation in the event of fire. All of Vera Security Services’ fireguards are certified in accordance with applicable law.
Fire Safety Directors are licensed to work in residential buildings and commercial facilities, hotels and motels in accordance with local requirements. Vera Security Services Fire Safety Directors’ duties include the following, among others:
- Alerting building occupants in the event of fire
- Aiding the evacuation of the building in an emergency
- Managing contact with the fire department during fire safety operations with detailed information on location of fire, evacuation and problems with equipment, if any
- Providing maintenance and implementation of the fire safety plan
- Supervision and training of fire brigade, floor wardens, deputy floor wardens and building evacuation supervisors
- Conducting fire safety drills as required
- Retaining records as required by law
